What should I bring?
Water! The Florida sun is hot and we want you to stay hydrated. Help us reduce plastic waste by drinking from reusable containers rather than single use plastic bottles if possible!
We can provide small drybags to protect phones, cameras, car keys, etc.
What should I wear?
Most people wear t-shirts, shorts, and/or bathing suits. During the winter months we suggest a light wind breaker or a sweatshirt depending on the temperature and the wind conditions. The most important thing is to be comfortable. As for shoes, wear something that you don’t mind getting wet – flip flops, water shoes, or old sneakers are ideal.
Will my tour be cancelled if it rains?
Your safety is paramount. So cancelling a tour depends on the weather conditions. If the forecast is a light drizzle, then the tour will launch at the regularly scheduled time. If there are thunderstorms or any hint of lightning, then the tour will be postponed or cancelled. However, if you choose not to go on the tour due to weather conditions, or if your Myakka River kayak tour is cancelled, your credit card will not be charged.
Do the kayaks fit all body types?
We have kayaks for all shapes and sizes. We assist you with finding the right kayak at the time of your tour. Our goal is to make sure that you are comfortable and enjoy your adventure.
Is the Myakka River (Sarasota) Tour a difficult paddling experience?
Part of the tour is up river, which can make for an energized paddle. Then the second half of the tour is down stream, so you can enjoy the lazy pace back home.
With the abundance of alligators on the Myakka River (Sarasota) Tour, is it safe?
Yes, this tour is safe. The alligators in Myakka State Park are wild and have not been fed or harassed by people. The alligator’s natural instinct is to be fearful of people. So, we respect them and they respect us. It’s safe and fun!
What types of birds are seen on this eco kayak tour?
This is the ideal kayaking tour for bird lovers, bird watchers and all bird enthusiasts. The variety of birds seen depends on the time of year. It is possible to see great blue herons, egrets, little blue herons, yellow-crowned night herons, black-crowned night herons, green herons, roseate spoonbills, wood storks, sandhill cranes, black-necked stilts, owls, and limpkins.
